fun with fairy tales

One of the great things about being boss, minion, secretary, and cheap labor for my own company is getting to choose random things that strike my fancy to be my new projects.

If you aren’t familiar with the classic story of The Princess and the Pea it goes something like this: Picky Prince is on the prowl for a perfect Princess. In Hans Christian Andersen Land, Princesses are ranked based on sensitivity- not by how many tears are shed at The Notebook- but if they can feel a pea placed meticulously by meddlesome mom hands under miles of mattresses. In the morning when Princess can’t help but complain to her hosts that she was bothered all night by laying upon some hard thing- the Prince joyously finds his super sensitive true Princess.

Wouldn’t it be swell if the Princess were a sleepwalker instead? She would rise like a zombie out of her bed and cavort unawares like a cat with her tail on fire, and then stroll back jumbled and oblivious just in time for the sunrise feeling like she fell off a roof, wrestled a goat and served as a drawbridge for clydesdales. The Prince would be delighted by the exemplary effects of the pea on her delicate princess personage and they’d still live happily ever after.

My picture is somewhat more calm and traditional than the bit of fiction I just laid down, but I thought of it after I made the image and life isn’t as fun if you don’t do some things out of order right? Either way, we got a pretty picture out of it!
